My story
As a child I fell in love with the ancient Romans. I learned ancient Latin, vacationed in Italy and learned Italian.
In 1997 I moved to Rome, and I began to intensively tour and study Italy using Rome as a base. I still have a Roman accent when speaking Italian!
In 2013 I moved to Como. I fell in love with Como, and I decided to stay here for the rest of my life. There is so much within 2 hours!
I can only hope to help others appreciate Como and Italy as much as I do!
My qualifications and credentials:
- Italian trained and licensed tour leader (ER-2587)
- Living in Italy since 1997 in Rome and 2013 in Como
- The only native English-speaking tour leader guide of Como
- From California, USA
- Sommelier trained in New York, Brussels and Rome
- Graduate of Johns Hopkins University and Master’s from Waseda University, Tokyo
- Legal translator and interpreter at the Courthouse of Como (CTU-217) and the Chamber of Commerce of Como (CO-1054)

As only a well-studied and native English-speaking local tour leader can, I adapt the itinerary and topics to your interests.
I find and pull out exactly the right points that resonate with you bringing history to life. I tell our local story through the drama and comedy of our illustrious historical citizens, who lived it here in a human and personal way.
In addition to the ‘what, who, where and when’, I focus on the ‘why’ of the story, which creates meaning for your present day life.
Como is so much more than a picturesque location to ignorantly gawk at as many tourist bus groups do with non-local guides!
